Richard has been a PGA professional for over 6 years and now resides at Penrhos Park in mid west Wales. Richard James is a fully qualified PGA Professional with a deep passion for coaching golfers of all ages and abilities — from complete beginners to elite players representing Wales, Great Britain, and Ireland. His true coaching joy comes from working with juniors, inspiring the next generation of golfers to fall in love with the game and reach their full potential.

As a player, Richard represented Wales on eight occasions and earned a golf scholarship to the University of South Florida, where he combined high-level competition with academic growth. In 2015, he turned professional and fulfilled his dream of playing on the PGA Tour. The following year, he claimed victory at the Lookers Championship on the Europro Tour, earning Rookie of the Year honours. Richard also competed on the European Challenge Tour, travelling the world to test his skills against the very best.

In 2018, injury brought an end to his playing career, but it opened the door to his true calling — coaching. Since then, Richard has completed the PGA Foundation Degree and worked at some of the finest venues and clubs in Wales, learning from leading minds in the golf industry.

Now based at Penrhos Park as Head Teaching Professional, Richard works with cutting-edge tools like Trackman, Sportsbox 3D & Upgame stats to help players understand and improve every aspect of their game. Whether it’s guiding a young golfer to their first birdie or refining a tour player’s swing, Richard combines his wealth of playing experience with a modern, enthusiastic approach to teaching.
